I Kept Telling Myself ‘I AM BRAVE’

My rationale for stopping smoking. More postitives = DO IT.

Highly Sensitive People are very aware of things that might harm them. They shy away and our world calls it ‘cowardly’. For a long time I’ve been a believer that I am lazy and a coward. So, to start changing this belief system, I tried to reinforce self-confidence by saying to myself ‘I am brave’ every day for the last three months. Here, I’m sharing with you the results of what I have achieved in the last three months because of this.

This spring I was able to really focus on myself due to lockdown. Therefore my aims were to get more fearless and assertive. The idea of using ‘I am brave’ affirmation every day came from listening to ‘Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway’ by Susan Jeffers (available for free listening on YouTube).

One of the first things I achieved was to become smoke-free. I had two cigarettes for the whole of three months. I call this a huge win!

Then, I started learning assertiveness with reading ‘Your Perfect Right’ by A.R.E. Emmons. I didn’t finish reading it, but what I did achieve as a result of it was – improved volume of my voice and improved relationship with my father!

Also, I’ve made a song! It’s technically my first song. And, I was determined to create it for my partners birthday this year to show him how much I love him.

Then, I’ve been busy studying and passing my second year at Bournemouth University. I did a bit over a 100 hours of revision and , hopefully, passed exams! Knowing that I’ve managed an actual 100 hours of revision really boosted my confidence during exam week.

And, of course, I’ve started Life Is Acid And Sweet! It has been only two months since I committed myself to writing regularly and in result I have literally doubled the amount of views each month (comparing to planned figures).

However, I’ve decided that I’m going to reduce the amount of posts I’ll be posting here every week. By combining Life Story and New Story categories together I hope to create some time for my financial coaching business.

This is another thing I dared myself to do during this time – to get my financial coaching business, Tamed Money, up and running. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be starting this business because it might just make my dream come true!

So, if you haven’t heard of affirmations before, I highly recommend that you read about them and incorporate them into your life. Our inner voice can be too nasty at times and very rarely positive, which is why positive affirmations work. As you can tell, the affirmation I was using during the lockdown really helped me.

I would love to invite you to write down one affirmation every time you wake up, and then to say it out loud looking at yourself into the mirror. Day after day you will feel like you’re becoming more and more aligned with the statement and making active choices becomes easier and easier.
